Privacy Statement

In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect. GDPR is new regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all all individuals within the European Union.

What Data Do We Collect

MediaCity Psychology (MCP) are named as the ‘data controller’ for the data we collect. We keep confidential records and statistics about the people who use the service. The information we collect includes your name, address, email, date of birth and your GP.

Why Do We Collect It

MCP will only collect data that we need in order to provide a safe and effective service to our clients.

What Do We Do With It

Your personal and sensitive data will only be used in order to provide the service to you, and to ensure the service continues to deliver best practice. MCP keeps all records securely, where they can only be accessed by MCP personnel. Records are kept for a period of 7 years and are then securely destroyed.

We will not normally share your name or any information about you to anyone outside of MCP. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where MCP may ethically or legally have to give information to relevant authorities, e.g. if we had reason to believe that someone is at serious risk of harm, or to prevent a miscarriage of justice. We will always discuss any possible disclosures of personal information with you, unless we believe that to do so could increase the level of risk to you or to someone else.

What Are Your Rights

If at any point you believe the information we hold about you is incorrect, you can request to see this information and even to have it corrected or deleted.If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled your personal data, you can contact our Data Protection Officer who will investigate the matter.

If you are not satisfied with our response, or believe we are processing your personal data not in accordance with the law, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): https://ico.org.uk
